About the Bussa Fund

There is currently no way for the Barbadian diaspora to pool its resources and invest them in ways that earn a return and build wealth and resilience for communities in Barbados.

The Bussa Fund is trying to change that.

By supporting initiatives like homeownership for working and middle class families, locally-owned businesses, and green infrastructure, the Bussa Fund aims to unleash the power of the diaspora to finance projects that contribute to a resilient, sustainable, and equitable Barbados.

Currently in a research phase, we are collecting non-binding commitments for investment to show that the Barbadian diaspora is ready, willing, and able.

If you are a member of the Barbadian diaspora (or just someone who loves the island) and want to invest in a resilient, sustainable, and equitable Barbados, please fill out our interest form.

Beyond Remittances

Our dollars could be doing more.

Every year, the Barbadian diaspora sends over $100 million to Barbados. These gifts are a critical lifeline to the island, but they have limitations.

Instead of going towards things that build generational wealth and economic self-sufficiency almost all remittances go towards covering everyday expenses.

Gifts sent home reduce the Barbadian diaspora's ability to save, invest, and build generational wealth ourselves.

Individual remittances are just that: individual. Rather than pooling our resources and achieving economies of scale, each family is left to fend for themselves.

The Bussa Fund aims to address these shortcomings by empowering the Barbadian diaspora to pool its resources and invest in projects that build a resilient, sustainable, and equitable Barbados.
